I bought several of the Black Diamond Camalot Cams.  So far they seem great.  As a good start to your trad gear you might start out with these common cams:  .3, .4, .5, (2) .75, (2) 1, (2) 2, and a 3.  This one from Amazon seems like a decent buy for a nice set.
